“If you follow the goings on in Silicon Valley, you might come to the conclusion that “profit” is something the best entrepreneurs give a wide berth. Most of the Unicorns in the world are in Silicon Valley, and the large majority of them have yet to turn a profit. The rationale for Unicorn valuations (such as it is) is growth. (Which is at least better than the eyeballs metric which ruled the roost before the dotcom bubble burst.) The lesson seems obvious. If you want your startup to grow up to be a Unicorn, screw profitability: focus instead on growing as fast as possible.” Click here to read more.
