Bart began his legal career in Silicon Valley more than 20 years ago. Though he has since relocated to Nebraska, Bart says the old saying is true – “you can take the boy out of Silicon Valley, but you can’t take the Silicon Valley out of the boy!”
Before joining Venture Best, Bart founded and led Enterprise Legal Studio, a nimble boutique startup and business law firm, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, venture capital firms, public technology companies, and venture-backed and angel-backed startups, helping them succeed and thrive.
With a particular focus on venture financing and merger transactions, Bart has handled countless deals, ranging from thousands of dollars to hundreds of millions, across a variety of economic environments, and through all stages of corporate development. He leverages his substantial experience to help clients navigate the ins and outs of venture capital structures and the issues that young tech companies face when rapidly scaling.
In addition to his legal practice, Bart is actively engaged in the angel and venture capital community in the Midwest. He serves as a board member and former president of the Nebraska Angels, the state’s largest association of angel investors with over 100 members and over $65 million in investments in over 80 startups.
Bart regularly speaks at events on angel investing, including at the Angel Capital Association’s annual summit and the South by Southwest Interactive Festival, as well as guest lecturing on various startup-related legal topics at the University of Nebraska College of Law.
Since 2023, Bart has also served as a member of the Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee to the Office of the Small Business Advocate at the Securities and Exchange Commission. In this role, Bart helps provide insight to the SEC’s staff regarding the issues facing small business and capital providers.
